What makes this horse movie extra special is that it is based on a true story & one of the three arabian stallions that made such a profound influence on the thoroughbred-it changed the breed forever. This film also shows the special bond between a boy & his horse. People of all ages will love this movie. I hope it comes out on Disc some day soon.

This was probably the last great cheesy film to come out of the 80's. Any time it's on, I feel compelled to watch it through to the end. Far worse and more obscure films have been released on DVD, so why not release this one? I actually purchased the VHS several years ago. But this film would be a prime candidate for one of those 80's themed DVD 2-packs. Maybe they could sell it with "Adventures In Babysitting" and call it a George Newbern double-feature. ;)

An adaptation more faithful to the original book you will not find. This wistfully acted, beautifully photographed British television production of Anita Brookner's Booker Prize winning novel is a delight to watch over and over again to pick up on nuances perhaps overlooked in a single viewing. Anna Massey, here middle-aged (remember her as Tom Courtenay's young victim in Michael Powell's Peeping Tom?) is perfectly cast as Edith, a romance writer who knows her market and who is in self-imposed exile after ... Alfred Hitchcock - The Legend Begins (20 Movie Classics)
I saw FRENZY from my Dad's collection. Hitchcock has that rare ability to evoke the most devastating fear with a minimum of on-screen blood and violence. My Dad used to say of Hitchcock films, " It's not what you see, but what you don't see that is so frightening." Hitchcock delights in turning macabre scenes into black comedy. Such is the scene in which a corpse's stiff leg refuses to be neatly packed, intact with its body, into a sack of potatoes. Hitchcock is ... Read More:

VHS : How Many Miles to Babylon
This film is a critical view of the British class system dressed up as a First World War story. A young member of the Protestant Anglo-Irish landed gentry forms a friendship with a poor Irish Catholic from the neighboring village. The Protestant, named Alexander, is warned by his mother to break off the friendship because it is simply not done. When Britain enters the First World War, Alexander's father, who supports Home Rule and is sympathetic to the Irish nationalists opposes his son's joining the army saying that it is not Ireland's fight, but ...
