| An interesting DVD. The movie was good but the extras were even better. The interview with Vonnegut and Nolte was quite interesting, as was an idea for trailer that was eventually modified before being used. It occurred to me that the original trailer (still admired by the producers) violated the warning of the movie by being something that should not even be pretended at. |

| This is such a great movie. It has the look of Batman and Batman Returns, and has the feel of all the gothic literature/films that have been seen. Brandon Lee's (sadly) final performance is a treat: he is the one and only "Eric Draven", and all the others are just copycats of him. Pacing and direction of this film is compelling, while the wicked art direction stands out. Action sequences are a must-see, and the script is purely well-written. ***** out of *****. |

| If you've seen and enjoyed the much more popular "Airplane" movies that made fun of the "Airport" series, this is the movie that got that brand of slapstick parody movie going. It is not sophisticated humor of any sort. It is not even a movie with a storyline really, so much as it is a series of several skits. Anyone who doesn't like puns must turn away now. | I read about this film in Vanessa Redgrave's fascinating biography (which I highly recommend). Her performance in this role is stunning, and as always with truly great art, the script, the directing, and the acting never get sentimental. | Yes, it's goofy. I love Richard Lynch. He can play really ugly characters and not need special makeup (kinda like Ron Pearlman). Lee Horsley ... did this son of a gun fall off the earth? In a minor part as one of Cromwell's villanous hordes is Robert Tessier. Best remembered for his cage fight in HARD TIMES (where old Charlie Bronson beat on his pointy-bald head like a drum). If you don't ask for much thsn this film delivers. |

| Bright took tremendous "artistic" liberties in making this film, almost to the point where it borders on being a complete work of fiction.
This movie leaves me with two baffling questions: WHY and HOW? Not in regard to the motivations of the featured serial killer, but WHY and HOW has this cinematic exploit made it into my DVD player? What was the point of this movie? Was it to showcase the limited talent of its director/writer, Matthew Bright? If so, then it was brilliant success! |

| If I were rating this flick for historical accuracy, I'd give it just one star. (For the real story, turn to the book: Flying Tigers: Claire Chennault and His American Volunteers, 1941-1942.) As an hour and a half of entertainment, however, it's probably worth three stars. This was John Wayne's first combat role, in 1942, and filming actually began while the American Volunteer Group was still in combat.
