| This is the 716th review of this movie! What can I say that has not already been said about this wonderfully compelling movie? I will not comment on the restoration process or the pros and cons of buying the 2-disk or 4-disk set, as this is adequately discussed by many other reviewers. I will say that this movie won 10 Academy awards and is still regarded as the 6th best epic movie of all-time. That should be credentials enough to want to view this extraordinary movie.

| This film is superb. I've watched it over and over again. And it's every bit as good as GWTW. I'm sure that David Selznick taught his sons the art of film making and it's obvious. One will only be as good as his teacher. A must for every film buff.

| This film rates a 4/5 for the music. I own the DVD and VHS versions, and just want to confirm what some others have posted here:
DVD 'Mono' is 100% mono DVD 'Stereo' is 100% fake stereo (and it sounds lousy) VHS is mono in the dialogue and what appears to be the original stereo in the musical numbers plus some of the bridging dialogue I can't speak for the Laserdisc, but the musical numbers on the VHS version sound MUCH better than either track on the DVD. | This version of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" might be a little shorter than the others,it is a little more lighthearted. As far as
characters go Scrooge,Bob Cratchit,and of course Tiny Tim, I prefer these actors out of any of the rest.This is by far the best of them all! |

| Judy Garland (in her third and final appearance on the Andy Hardy movie) plays Betsy Booth, and though she lost none of her charm, she did lose the childish look she had in "Love Finds Andy Hardy" and replaced it with the more glamorous "Presenting Lily Mars" look.
I think one of the reasons that I don't like "Life Begins For Andy Hardy" as much, would have to be the fact that Judy Garland isn't in very much of the movie.
