VHS : Magnificent Obsession
I enjoyed the story and loved how a person can choose to change his life for the better. However, for Dr. Merrick to suddenly appear at a sanitarium in New Mexico, and then have a very nice operating room complete with viewing window that you might imagine finding in a large well equiped hospital was a little difficult to swallow. The nurse and companion, Nancy, suddenly became a scrub nurse and miraculously knew every instrument!! And then, to top it off, after a very long and difficult surgery, ... Read More:

I have enjoyed this movie since I was a young girl. It has only gotten better with age. The performances are wonderful and Orson Welles is terrific. I appreciate that the movie is still in glorious black and white. The shadows of his home would be lost along with the brooding atmosphere.

A must-see for those who did not grow up during the Debbie Reynolds' era. The music is melodious and the movie has a message. Great story, has everything, drama, comedy, unrequieted love, choices. Bittersweet ending for the viewer, joyful ending for the nun who asked the Lord for guidance, then let Him lead the way!

Caught "Vines.." (missed the very beginning) on TCM and totally fell in love with it! I tivo'ed it and I can't stop watching this charming and sweet movie. Isn't it wonderful to see loving parents? Isn't it wonderful to see loving children? Its a movie I want to share with my whole family. It would make such a great Christmas present... DVD, anyone?

7.Meet Me in Las Vegas starring: Dan Dailey, Cyd Charisse, Agnes Moorehead, Lili Darvas, Jim Backus
directed by: Roy Rowland
September 01, 1998
Average Rating: out of 5 stars
>>More Details
VHS : Meet Me in Las Vegas
Today this film suffers from not being associated with the times in which it was produced. Why did Cyd Charisse do that anti-Rock 'n' Roll number which today seems completely out of context? Does the film not emanate from the 'sane' world of the time giving its answer to The Girl Can't Help It which, incidentally, had a plot just as forgettable? The format is the same - guest appearances in cabarets by stars using their own name and, yes, don't miss the names in neon lights, Louis Prima, Keely Smith, the list goes on . It is ... Read More:

8.All That Heaven Allows starring: Jane Wyman, Rock Hudson, Agnes Moorehead, Conrad Nagel, Virginia Grey

VHS : All That Heaven Allows
"All That Heaven Allows" is a 1950s sudser that can be watched on a couple of levels. First and foremost is the entertainment value. Jane Wyman is so terrific playing widow Carrie Scott. Within the first twenty minutes of the movie, three different suitors move in on her. The most intriguing, and from the perfect 1950s standpoint, the most unconventional, is her landscaper, Ron Kirby. Ron is younger. Material wealth means nothing to him, preferring to spend his time with his trees, living Thoreau rather than just reading him. ... Read More:

9.Citizen Kane starring: William Alland, Georgia Backus, Fortunio Bonanova, Sonny Bupp, Ray Collins

VHS : Citizen Kane
I watched this movie for the first time in english class. I had to write a paper of 8 pages about it. I was amazed by all the elements and interested in what "Rosebud" was. I will admit that I still cry at the end of this movie because like Kane, some of us has lost a something so precious when we are kids that even when the money we have now, we cannot replace it. The music score doesn't help to hold the tears. Just magnificent how a man that was thought to have everything had nothing.

10.Lost Moment starring: Robert Cummings, Susan Hayward, Agnes Moorehead, Joan Lorring, Eduardo Ciannelli

VHS : Lost Moment
Based on Henry James "The Aspern Papers", Robert Cummings head for Italy in search of the greatest poetic love letters every written to the mysterious Julianna (Agnes Moorehead made up as a very old woman). This pseudo-mystery is filled with images of light and dark in the murky old villa where Moorehead lives with her emotionless staid niece Susan Hayward who transforms magically at night into the beautiful Julianna. Hayward is almost childlike in her unworldlyness in both roles. She is in fact a dual personality. And when she begins to loosen ... Read More:
