I'm posting this on all Vornado listings on Amazon, as all potential purchasers need to be aware of the shortcomings of Vornado's warranty policy. I purchased two fans from Vornado direct. Both were larger, more expensive units (280 & 285) that had either ten year or lifetime warranties. One year after the purchase, the 285 began to vibrate upon start-up. | I had purchased this fan 3years ago and was completly satisfied with it. So I finally purchased one for our bedroom. When there is no need for the A/C we use the fan with great results. I soley recommend this product. |

| I loved this fan. This was the best desk fan I ever had.. Then, after about 1 hour of use, a bearing or something went loose inside the motor and it is making a horrible, sick helicopter type noise now. Aarrg! |

| The filters themselves are a good product. However, the way in which they are delivered is totally unacceptable. This specific UPS delivery was no different than any other. The shipping container(which happened to be the filter dispenser box)was crushed and filthy! Two of the twelve filters are crushed on one end. I believe however that they are usable. The problem is that every shipment I receive from UPS includes a damaged and filthy container. The drivers always put the package at the back door, knock lightly, ... Read More: |

| This unit throws an impressive amount of heat for its size, but the fan is quite loud. As mentioned in other comments the thermostat feature seems to measure something internal, so even set at the highest temperature (95) it will cycle on and off every few minutes. The fan going on an off is loud enough that it keeps me from getting to sleep so we've found it unusable in the bedroom. But in a small room where the loud fan won't be noticed this gives a lot of heat for the money.

| Using window film on the outside of your house rather than the inside helps protect your windows. The outdoor film from 3M lasts forever (I have three-year-old film on one window) and works great. Especially good for windows that you aren't going to open in the summertime anyway. |

| This space heater is exactly what I needed for my office. I like that it has dual settings (fan, low, med, high dial & a temp. dial), and that it doesn't constantly run. The oscillating feature is great...it heats all around me instead of blowing right at one spot. I'm glad I read the other reviews and was warned about the childproof dial, otherwise I might have gotten frustrated. | I purchased this unit off season -so I paid a fraction of the 39.99 being asked here.
The thermostat has never worked on the unit -only the continuous HI / LO settings. (I got sick, forgot about it and the 30 days to return it expired -never thought about the warranty). I use this unit in a rarely used 4X6 bathroom. This unit is cumbersome, fat and not easy to grip to pick up and transport to another space.
