| Just FYI, you can put two kayaks on with only one rack, as long as you buy some extra straps for the second boat. I bought two, since we have two kayaks, but only needed one. That said, I did need the second set of straps, ropes, and hooks. When we eventually buy two more boats (total of 4), I will only need to buy some extra straps and we will be all set. |

| I've had this rack for since 2002 - has worked well for carrying bikes whether towing my +2000-lbs popup camper or not. I've recommended it to friends, and would buy it again.
Don't use the swing-down feature often, as it's pretty heavy if bikes are loaded. The v-cradles for the bikes don't work as well for the oval tubes on some bikes - especially for really "tall" top tubes. I bought a "cheater" tube for adapting troublesome bikes (ladies frame, etc.) to fit the rack. The three ... Read More: |

| This fits my Scion xB perfectly, it is a very challenging vehicle design (think box), and I didn't want to go with a roof rack. Putting a dirty mountain bike on the roof of my (nice paint job) car just hurts.
The only con for this rack is that there is really no way to lock it to your car. If someone unhooks the straps they can take your rack and bike (with the bike locked to the rack). |

| I picked up this rack recently because I had to transport my 15' kayak on a highway at 70 mph for a couple of hours. Rack easily bolted to my existing factory crossbars on a 2005 Subaru Outback. The shape of the mounting blocks are made to adapt to nearly any factory, Thule or Yakima Cross Bars as far as I can tell. Once bolted on they feel very secure and I had no issues on my 4 hour trip there and back.

| I bought the 6-pack of lock cylinders so that my roof rack (4 cylinders), bike hitch (one cylinder) and roof top box (one cylinder) could all use the same key. My boyfriend and I are both engineers and we like to make things as simple as possible. Thule makes this easy!

The thing that I like about the upright roof carriers is that if someone hits your car from behind, your bikes are not destoyed too. Also, the upright ones are secure and "stay" there, and the front wheels do not have to be taken off and reconnected and brakes readjusted. A lot of bother if wanted to just take the bikes off and ride. I do have to have a little stool to reach my Jeep roof, but it is claspable ... Read More: |
