| I just upgraded to version 7. Every other negative comment made by others here is true, plus they just do NOT answer e-mails. I was unable to register my upgrade copy. I sent four e-mails and not a single one was answered. I finally called and was told there was a bug in the registraion of "some" copies and not to type my name in the name field, but my company name and leave the company field blank. Yup, that worked.
Now, if the registration is that buggy, they have no e-mail customer ... Read More: |

| Most of you reading this review will have used a Microsoft Compiler before, or a Borland product. If you have yet to experience .NET, you are missing out big time. Interface (2 sections): First Impressions 8/10 - I started up Visual Studio .NET only to see everything... EVERYTHING has been changed in some way. | Filemaker Pro is a flexible and useful program for several reasons. Most Database Programs over the years have diminished in their usefulness. I used to use ACT4.0 and ACT2000 but its lack of enhancements began to make it obsolete or less useful for me. I got the recommendation of a friend who is a MACINTOSH owner and he is really high on Filemaker for the MAC. So I purchased Filemaker Pro for my Windows 98 PC. | Our company has been using FileMaker since 1989. As it is the only database Ive ever used (other than a brief experiment with 4D) I really can't compare it with anything else. I'm here to tell you it will do the job you want to do. I won't use technospeak in my review, as I am here for the novice users (and anyone who is reading a review to determine if this software is for them is probably a novice). | The big book inside the box is NOT the "Teach Yourself..." text. It is the manual for the C++ 4.5 complier for 16 bit applications in Windows 1.0. (Does ANYONE still use Windows 1.0?!) The "Teach Yourself..." text is available online for free, at least in its 21 day version (by the same author). You will probably be unsuccessful choking down object oriented programming in a new language in 14 days. I understand 6 weeks is average. I took about 5 weeks.
