| A lot of people have said "I don't know what's the difference between this and the full (retail) version." Allow me:
1- This is about half the $$. 2- If you get the full (more expensive version) and the PC (or its motherboard) dies, or you just want to replace (upgrade) it, you can move the (expensive) copy of XP to the new machine. | I am pleased with the companies notification to me that my copy was damaged in shipping. Unfortunately, they did not have a replacement for me. | I only purchase this upgrade because my original OEM package did not have powerpoint.
What I ended up with is another brain fart by Microsoft. What possessed them to go out of their way to incovenience long time users of the products is beyond explanation. What I have now is hours of lost productivity resulting from a completely remodeled GUI. LIke I really to spend my days learning a new interface. For what. | Having to reinstall Windows can be a bear, especially when you need to spend all day installing updates and service packs. This one, with service pack 3 shorts that job down to about an hour and a half total. The drivers are adequate and only required a few updates on specific peripherals. |

| My XP HP battleship finally could sail no more.. never gave Vista any thought actually..a few days ago the inevitable happened... plus the usb ports were becoming sloppy, white screen, but when it was good it was very good.. cut to the chase... From what i gather, buying Vista is a pant load different then purchasing a new computer. | Generally speaking, to get the best performance from any operating system a clean install of a full version is recommended. The best choice is to choose a full version of the product and enjoy the benefits of not being left with artifacts and leftover's of your previous operating system which can lead to instability in certain cases. I would only buy this on a limited budget. |

| Purchased OneNote for my new Tablet Laptop for school.
First time I tried it, the pen featured kept disabling itself stating "Windows XP tablet edition SP required". Um, ok I have that preinstalled on the laptop. Formated my machine and put a still steamy new copy of XP tablet edition back on. Nada. Upgrade to SP3, nada. | I needed to reinstall Windows XP, of course Microsoft doesn't allow using the same OS software code when you update your computer. My solution to it was to purchase the Windows XP Home Edition Upgrade disk and use that product code. It worked out great and my Windows was then activated by micosoft. It's as sad thing that Micosoft is so greedy and causes such problems. |

| I could not even install MS Project. I keep getting some cryptic error message box informing me that MS Project 2007 is not compatible with Office 2007. Never mind that I don't even have Office 2007 installed. Actually, I SHOULD know better. Even if they are FREE, Microsoft garbage/bloatware is seldom worth the trouble--move on. |
