| This new release suffers from three main issues:
1) Speed. 2) Speed. It's dreadfully slow. A coworker and I are running the NEW MacBook Pro high end (2.53GHz) laptops, machines released just a few weeks ago and Office 2008 is quite slow. | Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac was purchased as an upgrade. I work as an editor and publisher of niche publications and it is necessary for me to have recent versions of software to serve my clients.
That said, this is the slowest, most memory-sucking MS Office yet. The performance on a G5 2.0 Dual GHz Mac running Mac OS 10.5.5 is abysmal. | I'm not a heavy user. I primarily use Word and Powerpoint. I feel like both are strongly improved in this version and I'm quite happy with it. |

| I updated to Microsoft Office 2008 from M.O. 2004 because I purchased a new, Intel-based, Leopard-running, 2.6 GHz MacBook Pro and thought M.O. 2008 would be faster than what I had. The software has all the features of the 2004 version plus a few features I'll probably not use but I was disappointed by the amount of time it takes for the various programs to load. For instance, from the time I click on the Word icon in the dock until a blank document opens takes about 13 seconds. Word 2004 on my 1 Ghz Titanium G4 PowerBook only took about 5 seconds. ... | I bought this version of Office after reading that the newest version for Mac is full of bugs. I've been using the 04 version for about 3 weeks now and it works great! I use both Excel and Word and have had no problems. I'm a long time Mac user and have been using Microsoft Word on both Macs and PCs since it first came out. My old Mac version 01 would crash periodically. Thus far, this version works fine and has not crashed. I am happy with my purchase. |

| Not native to Intel Macs - so a little slow and buggy even with the latest patch (one a month!). But, Office 2008 eliminated Visual Basic - so what is a small business to do? For now we are sticking with 2004 and may skip 2008 all together for 2010? |

| After some time and research I decided to buy Word for Mac. As a graphic designer, I already had an IMAC. Yet for my writing class, everything needed to be submitted in Word. So after looking at Laptop PCs, and the separate price for WORD, it was clearly a better deal to buy Word for the Mac. I am very happy with the software, it's very much like Word 7 I use at work on a PC. I received it promptly and I'm very happy with the service and the software. |

| I have AppleWorks 6 and MS Office 2004 on my laptop, but I prefer to use iWorks. I just wish I had watited a few days longer and purchased iWorks 6 which seems to have a few new item I would like. |
