| FileMaker Pro 7 (and it's new version 8) have one leg up on Microsoft Access: the are cross-platform. You can use FileMaker on Macs and PCs. Microsoft doesn't make an Access for Mac, either stand-alone or bundled with Office.

| Our company has been using FileMaker since 1989. As it is the only database Ive ever used (other than a brief experiment with 4D) I really can't compare it with anything else. I'm here to tell you it will do the job you want to do. I won't use technospeak in my review, as I am here for the novice users (and anyone who is reading a review to determine if this software is for them is probably a novice). | Filemaker Pro is a flexible and useful program for several reasons. Most Database Programs over the years have diminished in their usefulness. I used to use ACT4.0 and ACT2000 but its lack of enhancements began to make it obsolete or less useful for me. I got the recommendation of a friend who is a MACINTOSH owner and he is really high on Filemaker for the MAC. So I purchased Filemaker Pro for my Windows 98 PC.
