| To start, this is a great product. Naturally, you'll want the best price. Amazon normally is the place. In this case, I ordered from one of the Amazon vendors (not yet rated, but if nobody uses them, how will they get rated?) I have a client that needed this product(I own it and recommended it to him), so I ordered it, trying to save him a few bucks. | what kind of a company rewards loyal users by putting up a roadblock to productivity? this is the worst software 'upgrade' i have ever seen, and I've been using software for the past 20 years. yes, there are additional useful features. yes, there are fixes to previous limitations. but no, they did not have to be implemented with a completely new UI. | This new release suffers from three main issues:
1) Speed. 2) Speed. It's dreadfully slow. A coworker and I are running the NEW MacBook Pro high end (2.53GHz) laptops, machines released just a few weeks ago and Office 2008 is quite slow. This is a typical Microsoft product loaded with stuff that 98% of people don't want, need, or use. I prefer Word 2000 but you can't buy it any more. I had to buy this to put on a new computer which is the only reason I bought it. Also, the Amazon price was the cheapest I found. |

| Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac was purchased as an upgrade. I work as an editor and publisher of niche publications and it is necessary for me to have recent versions of software to serve my clients.
That said, this is the slowest, most memory-sucking MS Office yet. The performance on a G5 2.0 Dual GHz Mac running Mac OS 10.5.5 is abysmal.
