| Like the other reviewer, I made the mistake of thinking that Swann was a good value.
The design and manufacturing of Swann "stuff" is fair to poor. The materials for the cameras are good quality, but, just trying to adjust the mounts is sufficient to destroy the mounts. The cables are so flimsy that just trying to rout them through openings, etc., can detach the BNC connectors, or, the RCA connectors. Good luck trying to find replacement parts or technical ... | Tried a cheaper Lorex version of this from "The Source", remote IR didnt work, so I tried this one, and the picture is slightly worse, tried all 4 channels and different output channels but it still doesn't work as well as the cheap one at half the cost. Audio is scratchy and full of pops and clicks and the picture jumps around a lot. Again, the IR extender simply does nothing at all. | This camera is a great novelty item. The picture is good, the optical zoom is nicer than just digital zoom, but it can not be considered worthy for serious surveillence. The unit does not have enough horsepower to deliver stable video when there is a lot of movement in the picture. What you get is a video image that pauses for a second or two, or three, while the audio continues (showing that the communications link is not the problem.

| I really like this camera. I have 3 cameras currently (all different brands) and this one is the only one at 480 horiz lines and boy is it noticeable during daylight. It's just much crisper. I would't think 60 pixels would make that much of a difference but it does. Very clear, focused.
Another reviewer commented about it not being so good at night, and I have to agree, my q-See which does not look as good in daylight, is better at night. The night vision is acceptable, but I found it seemed a bit ... Read More: |
