| Nice for scanning slides and photo negatives too. I like it very much. I tried other scanners for scanning slides and photo films and the quality of scanning slides and films was poor. This scanner is very good for slides and films: it is not sensitive to the fact that the films are not flat - everything seems to be in focus, and I can see the film grain pretty well on the scan (at resolution 3600 pixels per inch). | I like HP printers, but the paper-feed rollers have a defect so common that HP mails a kit free-of-charge to specifically address this problem: a plastic insert that goes in the paper tray, topped with a sandpaper-like material to coarsen the rollers. The kit works, but only temporarily. The paper feed errors returned a few months later, the kit no longer works, and HP will not do anything further once the printer's out of warranty. |

| I purchased this HP 145 Photosmart printer from an Amazon vendor in March 2006. Due to various business activities/travel I did not attempt to use the printer until last July 2007. I studied the instruction manual first;fired up the printer and printed out a thumbnail print. During this process I noticed that there was no information appearing on the LCD display.

| It's not a bad printer, but it is vastly overpriced. And- oh, by the way, HP no longer supports it by updating drivers, so it's essentially obsolete out of the box. Buy something else. |

| The DeskJet 5940 has been sitting in my home office next to my computer for several years now. It has never needed repair and it gets decent "mileage" from the cartridges. That is, my experience has been that the black and white as well as color cartridges generate quite a few copies before I need to replace them.
The downside? As others have noted, it tends to jam--especially when I use recycled paper. However, I find it more an annoyance than a major problem (hence, the 4 stars). Overall, then, I have found this to ... Read More: |

| This is a good printer if you're still running Windows XP or Mac OS 10.4 or lower, but AVOID it if you're using Windows Vista! There are no native Windows Vista drivers for this printer, and the generic Windows Vista drivers for the HP Deskjet series do not include support the memory card reader or ink level monitoring. |

| I have owned the Canon i450, two i455s, and now this i470. Although they wear out quickly when you use them as much as I do--they are definitely not intended for that--these are lovely little printers, cheap to operate. The only thing you have to do is keep plenty of cartridges on hand, and use it, use it, use it, because otherwise the jets clog and the printer dies an early death. |

-5 out of 5 stars Bad printer - don't waste your money - LEMON!!!!! I bought this printer because of all the rave reviews. I have had it a year and have not have even one good print. The ink is very expensive. The printer eats cartridges. When the color only printed out blue I tried to clean the cartridges, and while cleaning the cartridges I went through 4X of each of the 7 colors. It cost a fortune!
