| This is great for instant satisfaction. You can print directly from your camera or from the computer (and it is Mac compatible). But you pay 2-3 times what you would for a print from, for example the iPhoto mail order shop or other online printing services. That's the consumables cost. Ink and paper sets for 108 prints cost about $25, that's where the number comes from.

| Bought this printer about year and a half ago. Was working fine, I was happy with the purchase. Until....Replacing color cartridge. Upon removing the old color cartridge I noticed in the cradle there was thin metal clip/spring that didn't look quite right. Mind you, this was on removing the empty. No abuse, no forcing a new color cartridge. The little thin plastic clip that held in the metal clip/spring in place must have broken during printing with the old color cartridge. | After a three days of successful scanning of about 50 photos, my newly purchased HP2200c scanner made a loud pop, and electrical smelling smoke came from it. It was just sitting there and BANG! It made OK scans (I've seen better) but never worked again after the BANG. |

| I purchased this printer about a year ago, and have been wanting to write a review to warn people for most of the time I've had it. I am a stay-at-home Mom, and only use this printer for printing incidentals, like coupons or recipes (once or twice a week). I did spend a couple of days reading reviews for home printers, and decided on this one, but am still very disappointed in it, especially for a HP product. | I find it very unfortunate to have to write this review. I own both the Epson R1800 and R2400. As a professional, working photographer, I gave thought to buying the 4800.
I will never buy an Epson printer again. First, I have never had drama-free printing. All I was trying to do with either printer was get a 20 image portfolio completed. Neither machine was able to get through the job without either needing an ink change, have the heads realigned or fail to communicate with the IEEE ... Read More: |

| The Epson Stylus C82, C84, and C86 are good for a short time only, maybe one year tops when purchased new. Then, the nozzles clog, the printer becomes useless junk. Epson no longer will repair these old models.
This creates a problem for those of us using older computers like my Apple imac OS 8.6, as there are no longer any printers available that work with these old computers. |

| The Microtek 9800XL gives OK scans at a large size. However, as many others note, very often the lamp will go out (I understand it's a hardware problem with the lamp driver board).
Microtek will replace it if you are within the 1 yr. warranty. They will NOT repair it out of warranty. They will helpfully offer you a small discount on a new $1000 scanner. Let's recap that: I should buy from Microtek because their expensive scanner breaks just out of warranty and they offer no way to fix them. R-i-i-ght. |

| I was looking for a low priced 4 x 6 portable printer that I could take with me and have ability to leave sample pictures wherever I was visiting. My first chance to show it off was a recent family reunion. The first picture was very good and printed to edges as advertised. Of course several relatives now wanted copies. The next print was about 1/2 inch short on one edge. That was the last print because an error message to fix paper jam (none existed) kept coming up preventing any further prints. The printer was returned today. |
