| Excellent lens for portraits and performs at the level of an L lens, but without the cost of an L. You get a really attractive bokeh on the wide end of the aperature, and images have good color and contrast. This lens is a great value for the money, you won't be disappointed. |

A little disappointed so far. The lens creep is more like a lens drop! The outside shots are very good for the most part (how much is me or the lens!) I have some beautiful shots of weddings and outdoor events on bright days, but hit and miss indoors. Autofocus not quick indoors and I had expected more from the IS feature. | I bought this lens as a replacement for the kit lens (28-135 3.5-5.6) whereas the kit lens was very soft at the edges, this lens is crystal clear. I use it as my walk-around lens. With it's good wide angle and fast f2.8 low light capability this lens is one I can count on for most situatuions. |

| I didn't realize this when I bought it but this lens does not fit the Canon 10D. I don't understand why a company like Canon (and others) sell high end products and then make lens that don't fit!! |

| The 24-105 f.4 L (my first "L" lens) was just what I was needing to replace my 5 year old Canon 28-135 that was starting to make strange noises.
First thing I did wass shoot a series of exposures using my 40D, shooting from a tripod using each of the lens' marked apertures and focal lenghts. My test target was a sheet of newspaper stretched tightly on a wall. I was very impressed with almost every image when viewed at 100%. | It's not fancy, but for the price its a good value. I find its a little stiff, but the photo quality is fine.

| I have had this lens for 7 months. In the 7 months, Nikon has had it for almost 3. The autofocus is inconsistent from shot to shot. I have sent samples to Nikon via web and printed. I have sent the lens to them twice already, once with the D300. They adjusted the autofocus the first time and the lens came back worse. the second time they had to replace the entire zoom mechanism. unfortunately it will have to go back again. mounting the lens on a tripod does not give better results. | I got this lens for my full-frame camera (5D), and it's a great lens to get into wide angle photography - sharp and versatile, plus it's very nicely priced for an L lens. Be aware that the crop factor of APS sensor cameras makes this lens more of a 27-64mm. If you have one of these cameras and you really want to have ultra wide-angle capability, you might be better off with something like Canon's EF-S 10-22mm. |
