| The lens is suprisingly easy to handle and hold. Canon has kept the weight to a minimum. The image stabilization works very well and the lens takes very good handheld photos. Selected this lens over the shorter telephoto with a 1.6x, because of the much better weight disbursement. |

| The lens can be found on my camera 80% of the time. As a wedding photographer the range is great for tight spaces where brides get ready and reception shots. The 2.8 aperture is great and where I keep it most of the time.
Why a 4 instead of 5? Does need to be serviced at least once a year to keep focusing sharp. Canon factory repair can service it no problem and then it focus' beautifully. Before I send it in I notice it back focusing. |

| This is my work horse lens in low light. It is amazing no matter which camera body I stick it on (20D, 30D or 5D) and is super sharp. One of my favorites.
It is heavy but so worth it. :) |

| I brought this camera for my first trip to London this past October. I am not a picture taking person, but I wanted to document my first trip to the United Kingdom. Trust me, I barely knew what I was doing as I didn't do more than skim through the owners manual (a mistake). However, all of my pictures came out wonderfully. I mean they are lead crystal clear. | I took a load of photos with the 70-300 Zuiko lens... and I am very happy with the outcome. Of course, like any telephoto it is a light lover and works best in bright sunlight. Thanks to this powerful telephoto I photographed a very interesting new world of distant objects and creatures. Above 200mm it really prefers a tripod or something to steady the camera. Overall, for the money it is fine-- real bargain. |

| Here's my personal pro/con list after I took this lens out to DC for a weekend.
Pros: Extremely wide - WOW! Lightweight. Can't believe how light this. Probably the lightest among wide angle lens. Interesting effects can be achieved which is normally difficult in normal zoom lens. Fast focus, and very quiet. Cons: My most expensive lens. For sure will take a bite out of your wallet. For those that are unaware this is actually Canon's third version of a 18-55 kit lens. The first lens was your basic 18-55 EF-S 1:3.5-5.6 (the lens I got with my XTi). Next came the same lens, but with a USM motor (very limited availability, probably because Canon had the IS version in the works). | I love, love, love this lens. It's a bit long so it's not ideal for a walk around lens...but MAN, oh man does it capture some amazing shots. I first tried it out on a windy day at the lake with my nieces and nephews and caught some absolutely amazing shots. The clarity of the images even at full zoom is incredible, and don't even get me started on the bokeh! It is just a wonderful lens...now if Canon would only make it a bit more squat, it would be perfect!! |
