| I've been using this camera for several months now for a color photography course at my school. I very much enjoy using it as it feels sturdy and fits perfectly in my hands. The only real limitation that I've had with the camera is the poor shooting speed. It wouldn't stop me from buying it over the competition, but it does encourage me to upgrade to a Nikon D90/Canon 40D whenever I get the chance to.

| I received my SD1100 last week - it only took 3 days with free shipping. Very impressed with Amazon's shipping during the holidays. All that aside, I am also impressed with this camera! | I bought this camera about 15 days back. I have used it a couple of times indoors, outdoors and indoors with low-light conditions.
Used correctly, this camera does a great job of taking good quality images. I had to play with the camera for about 15-20 mins to get familiar with it so I could take the best pictures possible. | Small enough to fit in my pocket, however, after 1 week, the screen got a hairline fracture. Even with the pointer pen, screen easily stores fingerprints. Buttons are hard to push with pointer, and navigating is not easy. The flash is VERY Bright (blinding - the kids no longer enjoy having their picture taken), and I have not figured out how to soften it. | Negative: shutter lag is pretty serious, but if you have the right settings, it gets better. Takes some time to figure out. Also it appears to be better when more memory is available.
Positive: durability! I agree that the durability of this camera is nothing short of incredible. This camera can really be handled roughly, which is great. | I'll get right to the point since all the other reviews covered any and everything imaginable. This was an upgrade from my D70s which I've had for about 3 years now. While the D70s is a great camera for still and slow moving subjects, I realized that it had it's limitations (focusing speed on fast moving subjects,small viewing screen size - 2.5", etc.). | This is a good small point and shoot camera for the price. It is easy to use, has a very clear menu, and a very large LCD display. If you are looking for a 5X zoom with simple menus and an extra big display, this is a great deal. The downside with this camera is that the picture quality is not as good as more expensive cameras, and it does not do well in low light situations. The flash has an effective range of 9.8 feet. | So I've been a SLR user since 1992. I now own a Nikon D300. At times I miss out on photos because I just don't want to lug that big D300 around with me.
I've been wanting a good P&S. And, for someone who likes good glass, the LX3 is the way to go. Having a P&S with a f/2.0 lens is a dream that has become reality. Great stuff.
