| I have been using a traditional, three knob tripod head for the last couple of years, and absolutely hated carrying my tripod around. In the instances where I absolutely needed to use it, it was always a chore. It was a pain to setup, and fine tuning once you had a rough composition was difficult, to say the least.

| I have bought many tripods througout the years. Lightweight tripods, a sweet carbon fiber tripod, and several that have proved to be nothing more than junk.
In all that time, my favorite go to tripod is this Manfrotto Pro Tripod. It is well designed, looks great, and holds up well with extensive use. | I have this on top of a Manfrotto 055cxpro3 tripod, and it's a terrific combination. The head is very steady, easy to adjust, and has a separate pan adjustment (v. useful when doing panoramas). I love the RC2 quick release head (and I have the same one on my monopod, so it's very convenient).
I tried a Manfrotto 322rc2 as well, which people on Amazon really seem to love. I wasn't crazy about it. The effort to adjust it was considerable, and it was freaking huge. Much lighter than it looks, though. Read More: |

| I bought this unit since I recently purchased a HDR SR11 hard drive camcorder. My wife and I spend a lot of time taking video of horses in horse shows. I have a regular professional camera with all the bells and whistles; however, she was having to spend hours holding the camcorder. This tripod works great with the AV connector...its made for it. | I had a very tight budget when I bought my ball head and tripod but I still wanted something that was well made and built to last yet not real expensive. This ball head fits that bill nicely. It does it job and is solid and secure. I feel very comfortable with it attached to my Manfrotto 055XB tripod.

| The sony tripod works as advertised and, makes it much easier to zoom in and out. Only thing i wish is that it had a video output jack. On my current camcorder this plugs into the video out so that you have no way of adding an extra video out to the camcorder. With the old one on my prior camcorder there were slots for the video out and remote tripod. Thats not really a fault in the tripod though thats more a camcorder issue. | Having spare quick-release plates allows me to not have to worry about changing plates from camera bodies to telephoto lenses, etc. I can buy as many as I need and not have to change. Manfrotto/Bogen rocks! |

| After researching ball heads, I landed on this over the 486RC2 (no separate panorama) and the 488RC2 (no spirit level). It feels very sturdy while supporting my Canon Rebel XSi with the kit lens. It's not a monster setup as compared to some of the other reviews, but it had no problem with sagging even with the knob only half-tightened. As a corollary, it was a lot heavier than I expected and I'd agree with previous reviewers that it may not be the best item for backpacking. Day hikes may be do-able (I'm going to try next month). | I went to camera store after camera store trying to find this little piece for my tripod. Finally, I got it here on Amazon. The tripod portability is great because it is small and lightweight. However, this piece is easily lost - so be careful. It screws into the bottom of your camera easily and slides into the tripod without any fumbling. I have not had any problem with it cracking or breaking. I use it with my Nikon D40 and a Nikon CoolPix. I give it 4 stars because it's easily lost, but works well. |
