| Artie Shaw was argaubly the most intelligent band leader this side of Paul Weston. He is best known for his big swing band work of the 40's. Shaw played a meaner clarinet than Benny Goodman, in this writer's opinion, which got good airing while fronting a large group of musicians. But Shaw's most intimate and creative recordings came during these chamber music-like outings with five or six musicians. | My dad bought this LP back in the 60's and played it quite a bit. I think it was one of his favorites. Its nice to hear this music again with CD quality. For some reason, track #6 (Monte Carlo) is a different version than on the LP. I'm not sure why they switched it, the LP version sounded OK. |

| It's fairly obvious that only Robert Goulet people will buy this . Or , indeed , buy for others who enjoy his music , so one can not complain about this collection . It is generous (3 disks) . It is good value for money - for sure , and it is very Robert Goulet . All the songs you know (or Mum and Dad will know ) . The only real "downer' is , by about end of disc two , it becomes a little sameish . The big voice comes on too strong .
