| This is a superb CD, as one might expect from the Clerks' Group. I looked it up for a friend, to see if it is available. It is, but BE CAREFUL! The MP3 listed here is NOT this performance at all, and the samples are not music by the great 14th Century poet/composer Guillaume de Machaut.
PS - I returned to check the MP3; it's still wrong. However, there is a copy of the CD available, so I should say that this is the very best recording ever made of the motets and mass movements rom the ... Read More: |

| As I've found with most recordings in this series, the selection of works on this disc set is good - while there are certainly many more choices not included here, I can't really say any of those that were included are bad choices. The quality of the performances varies. Those works which I am more familiar with seemed to be of lower quality to me. | Karajan made a specialty of this great and difficult work, which he recorded no less than five times. I don't believe in duplicating reviews here at Amazon, but I am posting this one under each performance--they range from a live radio broadcast in 1959 from the Salzburg Festival to a digital recording from 1985 in Berlin. In general the sound improves as time goes on, and except for the last recording, the soloists are uniformaly world class.

| I've heard other versions of the same music by different performers and conductors. This collection was done VERY well. It is very up beat and energizing. I play it for myself and my children every day, and would recommend others do the same. |
