| I listened to this album because I got into a near brawl with some idiot kid who said slug was a better mc than Redman, which is quite simply not correct. Of course, if you agree with that statement, you should just give up and stop listening to rap music, because you obviously don't understand anything about it.
I don't really care about Atmosphere at all and I don't really like any of their albums all that much except Overcast, and haven't really cared to hear anything new from them for about five years now. So ... Read More: |

| Ol Dirty Bastard may be the rawest, dirtiest member of Wu-Tang, but his self-titled album may be the most offbeat of all the albums.
There are plenty of dirty lyrics to spare, such as ODB's vivid description of oral sex in "Don't You Know" and a bloody rap in "Raw Hide" where he raps, "I wanna see blood! Whether its period blood/or bustin your ****in' face, I just wanna see blood!" But his rawness is so genuine, with anger at society and a need for dirty pleasure. | I think its a classic, he has some of the best rhymes and choruses ive ever heard...it makes my hair stand up, and he has great charisma on the mic. The beats all pound, and the mids and highs are very interesting to listen to, even slightly pychedelic like track 1, I have the feeling of being on a sick merry go round of making money (there is a money machine going in the background).

| I downloaded this CD for my 11 year old daughter and thought I would be safe with the cleaned version, but even without the 'language' some of the CDs subject matter (primarily sex) is still not suitable for her age group. Granted, my daughter is probably too young to pick up on most of the innuendo or maybe I just want to think so and perhaps she hears all this from her friends at school anyway, but still it's not something I want to provide for her myself. | Normally i like to be alot more in depth with my reviews and really break down albums for you guys. But honestly, theres really not a whole lot to be said about this album besides its the best R&B album of the last 20 years, from the best R&B singer/producer/songwriter of the last 20 years, period. There really isnt words that can express how truly amazing this album is. Its in a league of its own. And the sad thing about it is, this album really gets looked over alot.
