- Off of Wonderland - Incredibly catchy, can't get it out of my head. This album's "Barricades of Heaven". - The Drums of War - Poor facsimile of "Lives in the Balance". The commentary about "impeachment" ruins its relevance beyond this album. - The Arms of Night - Up there with his very best ! Hope it becomes the classic it deserves to be. | When T.I. initially came out, I wasn't really following him; like what's the big deal? LOL. But over the past few years, he had some jams that I could bob my head to; Why U Wanna, You Don't Know, Big Things Poppin.
So when I started hearing some new material a few months ago and then saw both of his peformances on the VMAs two months ago, I was like Ooookay, I'm on it. the 6 singles he's released from the CD alone should push this album to 5 million copies easy. | Been listening to this album pretty much every single day on my way to work and back since it was released. (I've got a 45min drive) I really love it and am excited to hear it live this Halloween in Chicago. But with that being said, Because of the Times was ultimately a better album. A little more substance and awesome instrumentation. Not that Only By the Night is bad by any means, just not amazing. | When "A Beautiful World" came out, my friends were buzzing about how funky-fun and entertaining is this new guy Robin Thicke. "Evolution of Robin Thicke" was a let down, due to the collection of songs going from slow jam to mid-tempo. Alas, "Something Else" isn't, it's just more of the same, with a little retro thrown in. I guess this is supposed to be an homage to impress the young masses, but I've listened to The Commodores, Al Green, Smokey Robinson and Curtis Mayfield. They do it better. I just miss the catchy ... | I found this music astounding in a hard to explain way. If you did not pay attention, you may not notice the music because it's not an attention grabber. If you really listen,however, you will hear an incredible quiet beauty in the music. The music conveys an incredible sense of humility and purity. I don't think most people will "get it" - this music is too nuanced. In fact I may listen to hit next week and think, why did I like this CD so much? But those who get it will be ... the best word is appreciative.
