| Keane's new CD "Symmetry" takes the band in a slightly different direction from their previous discs. The beautiful melodies, melancholy atmosphere, and beautiful piano of their earlier CD's are replaced on Symmetry by an 80's-type sound with new wave synthesizers and a more peppy, upbeat feel. | With the cure framework beautifully in place this stripped-down, elegantly executed album is the best in many years from this band. Their previous couple of albums had Robert Smith in top artistic form but the density washed out the execution to some extent. Bloodflowers was great but the beauty of a Cure song has always been in its simplicity and top to bottom every song on 4:13 is pure pop goth beautiful.

I think Israel Kamakawiwo'ole ( the fearless eyes the bold face) had a magic touch in his voice and in the way he was able to improvise and rearrange all the songs he sang. the story behind the medley that changed the world is quite interesting ..it is on his biography that Amazon sells as well called: IZ voice of the people. in short: he called the studio in the middle of the night saying he had something in mind and he absolutely had to record it .. he was so persistent and sweet ... | I was curious to hear this CD given Bruni's notoriety over the years. Overall it's a dull outing. The production is virtually identical from song to song, with Bruni's average voice (sounds like a French Dido) mixed far forward with almost no reverb in every song. And there's nary a backing vocal or harmony track anywhere on this CD. Just the same presentation song after song. Was the producer asleep?
And the writing? Well the first tune, "Ma Jeunesse", grabbed me until I realized it's a virtual carbon copy ... Read More: |

| This is not the best I've seen from David but if you are a fan you might

| Great Oasis's disc are generally consistent from top to bottom. They also have a great, "can't live without" type single as well. The second LP was chock full of them and the last one had a great one in "Lyla". This CD doesn't have a truly great single type standout track. However, one should not pass this CD up because it is generally strong from top to bottom. The use of tamboura is a nice touch. These guys know how to make strong records and this one is no exception.

| This was my first exposure to these ladies - I was totally blown away by their clarity. I can't fault any of them at all. Mairead, the fiddler, has such a distinctive and beautiful style of playing I find myself (not literally) throwing rocks at other fiddlers. I don't believe she ever hits a bad note. The orchestra is also first-rate.

| I agree with ' R. Spradley "RS"' completely. this album is just boring. It lacks the Dido 'Hook'. Nothing sticks out here. Cant believe it took nine years for this. Come on Dido, you know how to right a hook, we KNOW you do. :)
