| First, I am not a huge GNR fan but as many thirtysomethings, GNR was one of the great bands that I listened to and enjoyed. There was always a tightness to the songs whether they were loud and raunchy or soft and reflective.

| Great Oasis's disc are generally consistent from top to bottom. They also have a great, "can't live without" type single as well. The second LP was chock full of them and the last one had a great one in "Lyla". This CD doesn't have a truly great single type standout track. However, one should not pass this CD up because it is generally strong from top to bottom. The use of tamboura is a nice touch. These guys know how to make strong records and this one is no exception.

| This is as generic and bland as rock music can get. This CD is immensely boring. This album basically embodies all the stereotypical radio rock elements you can image.
If you want the monotonous truck-commercial sounding riffs and awful wannabe-Pearl Jam sounding vocals, you have it all in this album. There's honestly A LOT a band can do with 2 guitars, bass and drums. What drives a band to produce a CD of music which seriously sounds like it was made specifically for the radio? Probably ... | I won't deny that AC/DC's latest offering, "Black Ice," is nothing more than their standard, straight ahead, gritty, grubby hard rock. But would you expect anything else from these guys? While many hard rock bands that ruled throughout the late 70's/80's modified their sound in an attempt to save their waning careers once the 90's hit, AC/DC was content with sticking to what they did best, which was provide simple, fun hard rock tunes to the masses. It's a formula that's worked well for them so far.
