| These DVDs are available in our local library for a three day check out. I thought, well, I will check them out and watch them sing. I never knew that I would be totally overcome with these singers, composer, Mr. David Downes and the incredible Mairead, the Irish whirlwind that you "can't get enough of" to quote David Downes. | Bluegrass/folk style, clever lyrics, but don't confuse them with the Band, Dead or even Dylan. They need more instrumental stretches, because they are really skillful players. |

| I like Yamagata and thought 'Happenstance' was brilliant, but this one just plodded on - you'll need to be in an almost comatose mood to enjoy it... I'm told Disc 2 is more promising, but I couldn't even get past track 3 on Disc 1... am hopeful that further spins may reveal some gems... |

| I bought this CD to support the campaign & for the memorabilia. Finally popped it in the player this week on the way to work. BIG MISTAKE! Hard to drive when you're crying! Not only moved by snippets of Obama inspiring in that way he does...but also by the most memorable words of Martin Luther King. I knew the CD would be a good campaign memory, but was really impressed and excited by the inspiration and great choices of the music. | I had never heard of Dar Williams before hearing an interview with her on NPR. Intrigued by the pieces of songs played as part of that interview, I bought Promised Land.
It contains a wonderfully varied set of songs, all with interesting settings and well sung. Williams has a wonderful voice that she uses well to enhance both the sound her music and the meaning behind the lyrics -- although sometimes that makes it hard to hear the exact words. | Bringing It All Back Home being Dylan's 1965 release and his 5th studio album is without a doubt a grand album. The album is divided into one accoustic and one electric side. Here we have classic tracks such as Mr. Tambourine Man, It's alright ma (I'm only bleeding). The book-let is very nice with a photograph on the cover of Dylan together with some woman. | I am amazed by people who attempt to stereotype creative genius. Because this album takes on a distinctly different (more ominous, brooding, cutting) mood from the first two albums, they regard it sub-standard! Even in the classic 'Rolling Stone Record Guide' of 1983, the 'critic' failed to appreciate this album, giving it a meagre three stars because he felt its lyrics over-critical and dated. | Dirt Farmer is the best album I have heard in years! If you like country, folk, gospel and the blues, you will love this album. From the first time I heard it, I liked it, but now I adore it. From beginning to end, this is a masterpiece. In my mind, the songs that stand out are as follows: False Hearted Lover Blues, The Mountain, Little Birds, Calvary, Got Me A Woman, Single Girl, Married Girl and Wide River To Cross. This album has great songs, superb musicianship and gorgeous harmonies. What else could you ask for? This country rocks! |
