| After listening to a representative sample, I would argue this set is a bargain at 3 times the price:
Yes the recordings are much as Bach would have wanted them performed. Its as if you could enter a time capsule and arrive at the Thomaskirche just in time for the Sunday Mass. Most of the comments below about the sound or performance quality of this collection are due to this and not to production or recording standards which are high throughout. | Seems like all I listen to on this cd, is "Summer Fly."

| I heard this CD on a PBS pledge drive (it was a premium) and found myself loving every cut on it! I was in my car and just wanted to keep on driving and listening. This is by far my most-played CD - I've had to make it a weekend only listen to prevent getting burned out on it. HIGHLY recommend it. Even if you are unfamiliar with some of the pieces, you will quickly learn to love them. . . . I must end this review - I'm off to listen to the "flower duet" for the 100th time. . . |

| Not long ago, I listened to Olivier Messiaen's *Quartet for the End of Time* for the first time. I did not know what to make of it when it started, but by the time it ended it had made a deep impression. Since then I have listened to it several times more. Without the description provided by Messiaen, I wonder how many listeners would have guessed what the quartet was all about, or called it one of the greatest works of the twentieth century. | I could care less if others write less than stellar reviews for this DVD, as it is one of the top ten I own, and I'm not even a ballet fan normally. Worth every penny, and beautiful to boot. |

| One of my favorite operas. The sets were rather spartan, but the music is excellent. My major gripe is with the subtitles in the DVD (and the reason for my 4 star review) - they are very poor. I understand little Russian, and the subtitles appear once every few minutes. At least if they enclosed the libretto with the DVD I would have been able to follow the singing while listening/watching. |

| Never really cared for Mike Oldfield's previous works, I enjoyed Tubular Bells the song but not the Tubular Bells album. I own "The Best of" album but wasn't really inspired enough by that to purchase any of his other albums. So when I purchased "Music of the Spheres" I felt I was taking a real chance and might not enjoy it - fortunately I was wrong. Strong melodies are supported by orchestra and choir.
