| Bluegrass/folk style, clever lyrics, but don't confuse them with the Band, Dead or even Dylan. They need more instrumental stretches, because they are really skillful players. |

**Lightness, title and registration and We Looked Like Giants are the only decent songs on this CD.. and Giants is screwed up at the end with that dumb static thing that they did on it.. | I bought this album because I like a lot of the artists that contributed. I ended up only really liking a few of the songs. My daughter, who is five, thinks it is "sad songs." Maybe it is geared for older kids. I recommend listening to all the clips before buying to make sure it suits your taste. I clicked on one, loved it, and found out it is the only song I love on the whole thing! |

| This 2-disc CD/DVD of their bigger-budget "home movie" and accompanying score is finally out and, if you know the Flaming Lips music and creators, "Christmas On Mars" makes perfect sense.
First, the score CD: the Flaming Lips have done instrumental music before...the occasional track or song-excursion, like that "Balloon" song on "Yoshimi", which was actually written for "Christmas On Mars", but was deemed too poppy for it but perfect for "Yoshimi". | I had never heard of Dar Williams before hearing an interview with her on NPR. Intrigued by the pieces of songs played as part of that interview, I bought Promised Land.
It contains a wonderfully varied set of songs, all with interesting settings and well sung. Williams has a wonderful voice that she uses well to enhance both the sound her music and the meaning behind the lyrics -- although sometimes that makes it hard to hear the exact words. | For me personally, White Zombie was one of the absolute best bands to ever grace my ears. I'm not as a big a fan of Rob's solo material, and to this day will take White Zombie over just about anything that Rob puts out himself.
