| i find reviews very helpful when buying music, even though we all have our own taste...Anyways, i decided to buy this album, as i have no other BFMV albums, after hearing some of the songs on it and i absolutely love it! | When I first heard a Killers song on the radio I thought it was okay, then I saw them on SNL and found them interesting.
Eventually I went and purchased this CD and I am very happy I did. Maybe they are not breaking new ground here, and their influences can be heard, but it still works. They are combination of The Cure, Depeche Mode and even U-2 (as you can hear on Midnight Show ) with a bit more of a rock leaning than some of the 80s bands such as The Cure, with songs that are very ... | Sounding like a concert, The Dropkick Murphys power through another mix of new and traditional Celtic flavored tunes. The emphasis here is on the personal as tales of triumph and courage are the mainstays; all pulled off with the Murphys typical bravado. | I was raised on singer-songwriters of the 60's and 70s'. When the 80's rolled around I left popular music for good. Hearing the stuff my kids were listening to lately didn't change my mind. Then I heard Ingrid Michaelson's work on a commercial, dug around and found that the great singer-songwriters haven't gone away after all. I bought the CD and enjoy it more each time I listen to it. |

| This is what introduced me to Sufjan (and I have never been the same!). My mother, who is in her mid 50s, loves this set. I secretly look forward to Thanksgiving because I can put the album in my cd player for the next couple of months...and we play it while we're taking our tree down so we can enjoy it one last time before putting Christmas stuff up. It has many traditional Christmas songs, as well as some he has written, and some stellar renditions of old hymns that will be familiar to many. This has to be the best Christmas album ...
