| Most of the songs on this great album were written in India while the Fab Four were studying Transcendental Meditation with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in early 1968. This is also the first album in which not all four Beatles participated on every track. Yet from an artistic standpoint, they remained very strong, although not every track here necessarily was.

| ... but I only gave it 4 stars because Paul died before this album was finished. Had Paul (not Faul) been involved in the making of this classic album, it would've been even crazier.
Still... beautiful album by the 3 remaining Beatles. Highly recommended. |

The beatles' number one hits was a great album that they have put out. I think it was a great compilation of there hits. They put it together and had it sold in stores and they had there fan base grow 10 fold. | Anyone who gives this cd anything less than 5 stars is an idiot and your village does'nt want you back. This music collection is so unique that it has held it's popularity from generation to generation. (The only true test of greatness). This particular example of creative prog rock puts Pink Floyd up there in rarified air with all the heavyweights, like Mozart,Beethoven,and Tchaikovsky. | Twenty years ago an Italian 4 disc box set appeared on the bootleg scene, complete with excellent soundboard quality and fabulous multi-page booklet. For those who bought it back then, that's all you would ever need. I purchased a white vinyl copy of the Doors/Matrix Club nearly two decades ago, and still enjoy playing it. Too bad today's "legitimate" release does not contain the same quality. |

| I had the original vinyl EP (wonder where it is now?) and I bought the CD a year or two back mainly for nostalgia.
All the Beatles stuff from around this time has a strange feel. It's a combination of that very English sound and a kind of world-weary feel that suddenly they had aged 100 years in the space of a few months. The songs have a dreamy spaced out feel but at the same time can be very aware and simultaneously almost childish.
