| What can I say that hasn't already been said about this album? Probably not much but I'll throw my 2 cents into the mix anyways.
Although the musical talent of each member is absolutely bursting from all angles from start to finish, it was really Brandon's lyrical stylings that made this one of my favorite albums, and Incubus one of the most socially conscious bands of all time. | This album should really get two ratings, one for the actual MJ album, and the other for the remixes.
Nothing needs to be said about Thriller. It's Thriller, and it's fantastic. Enough said. The remixes however... are some of the worst garbage released on a major record label... ever. Fergie attempting to sing Beat It is absolutely painful. The Kanye version of Billie Jean is nothing but the original song slowed down with a sloppy beat overdubbed. I'm not even going to speak ... | I love RHCP and I was disappointed after finding out that there weren't a lot of tracks on this cd and that a lot of the songs were the slower ones. They are a great, diverse band with lots of different types of songs and I think this CD did not do the diversity a favor. |

| It's sad that Stevie Wonder is best known and will be remembered by most for his ballads ala the schticky "I Just Called To Say I Loved You." This album confirms his genius and echoes strangely enough for me - The Beatles' Sgt Pepper's album. Songs like "Village Ghetto Land" reflect a storytelling aspect.
Like many artists of the seventies, Stevie was pretty progressive on this one. Some serious music here crossing a wide range of styles. |

| I get chills when Downs re-interprets classic Mexican styles. Her voice is a wonder and I'll still be on board for her next disc. A lot of the songs here are inspired by something other than old Mother Mexico. that's fine and she shouldn't be put in a box but I'm not as interested in her take on New Orleans or rock music. Maybe you'll like it more than I did.
