| I saw a review in an audio magazine, and bought it because of the good
rating they gave it---It is a little too modern for me---I like straight ahead jazz, and I went through the bop era, but did not like it then either. If you like more modern jazz, you might like the CD----the DVD that comes with it is just watching the preparation of the CD in a studio and they just turned on a camera and paid no attention to levels or anything else. | I'll keep this short. I've got a lot of Miles' Cds and this is probably the one I listen to the most. All the songs are great on it and I love Coltrane's work on this one too. I agree with others that say this is their favorite quintet. Not to negate what the future Davis groupings were but this one definitely had something that could not be replicated. A well balanced unoffensive classic jazz album. Recommended for Jazz pros and Jazz newbies alike. Soulful |

| I considered Hargrove's album "The Vibe" to be his best for a long time. He has exceeded that set with this masterwork. The last song does not really fit with the rest, but that does not matter. The sonic quality of this recording is also a cut above most anything I have ever heard. Each instrument is so distinct and clear. More importantly, the music grooves. |

| It's just magical what this man has done, can do and continues to do even into his 80's. I've listened to Sonny since my youth and have seen him on a number of occasions. He is on fire on these live recordings and lifts the roof on the Tenor Madness cut. This the one he did with Coltrane in the 56. His group is superior and anyone who likes jazz must own this. | Much has been said about the Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue." The album is the subject of two books and any Miles Davis bio worth picking up devotes several pages to it's development and musical importance. The record is known for its simplicity and improvisation, as the sextet of jazz masters use a minimum amount of chords to create a mood that's profound, yet accessible. The original album consists of five tracks recorded in two days. Now, a half a century after its creation, there's a lot more.
