| My parents were teenagers/young adults in Philadelphia during the 60's and early 70's. I grew up with my parents playing this music. It was just part of our environment. Man , this series is unbeatable! We are now at 60 discs in the series ; 71 hours , 17 minutes and 21 seconds ; and 1517 songs !! Fact is , there will be a 12A & B for the final Detroit era years represented in the series as well : 1972. That will bring the total to 14 boxed sets. You really can't complain; although the box set was released several years ago, and therefore the early 1990's CD mastering here isn't necessarily as strong and powerful sounding as a 2008 mastering might be, the tracks presented here are bright and clear. | There's a great selection of tunes, but they sound the same as they did on the radio 40 years ago. I fiddled with my stereo's tuners to make sure they were set properly, but couldn't get a crisp, clean sound. |
