| This compilation contains the best tracks from the first two Jeff Beck Group albums from 1968 and 1969. Moreover there are some great singles only tracks from the same period.
Beck's first album "Truth" is possibly his greatest and most consistent release. 7 of the tracks come from that album. "Beck's Bolero" is in all but name the Yardbirds, in the same line-up that did "Happening 10 Years Time Ago" and the "Blow Up" performance. | I just bought this CD used, and I feel it was worth buying because although I knew about half the artists already (ex: Beck, Garbage, SCOTUS, Aimee Mann) I am also really digging the tracks from groups I don't already know.
Here are my quick & dirty impressions... 1- straight ahead loud punk-influenced rock 2- late 80s sound a la "Melt With You" - not my fave 3- Beck is great and this is a good choice 4- softer than Nirvana/Foo Fighters but reminds me of them Read More: |

| Blow by Blow - The CD is what I remember from the past, which is what I was wanting.
After listening to the CD, I realized that I used to LOVE the LIVE version of some of these tunes... and so, I bought the Jeff Beck/Jan Hammer LIVE CD. Blow by Blow is a studio recording which I find a little "dry" when compared to the energy of the LIVE CD... But it's still Jeff Beck! |

| Of all Ali Ryerson's releases, this is my favorite. It's probably because the tunes are standards, but the mellow tone of the alto flute and the blend with the guitar's sound make it especially easy on the ears. |

| Mutations is an odd recording with a strange fellow, i.e., Beck. Bech Hansen is a one of a kind artist and I am not sure what category of music he does play. Since I can not make up my mind I put him in the experimental category. I love the book-let. It is quirky, odd and just like his music it does not make much sense. His lyrics are hard to grasp and he seems to happy to sing in riddles. I love how he made the decision to include the instruments and lyrics. This gives the listener a chance to see both the ... | Others are correct - this is not a Jeff Beck album, so don't expect it to be. However, Upp were a good little band in their own right and in particular had an excellent really funky, tight rhythmn unit in Kevin Copley and the aptly named Steven Amazing on bass. I was listening to alot of music at the time and it's certainly fair to say that there the bass style was well ahead of it's time - especially for an english (I think!) white guy.
