| I purchased this CD for the song with Corinne Bailey Rae, but I got so much more. Al Green had songs with Anthony Hamilton and John Legend as well. I don't think I would call this classic Al Green,(though some of the beats reminded me of some of his former songs),but I believe Mr. Green has put his signature on today's music. | I cannot well afford to get all of Al Green's Hi albums, however, this compilation helps me to grasp Hi sound's essence "Groove and be simple", as well as Al's seductive voice. It has a good design like your favorite book which you read so again and again that its jacket has worn out, and you can enjoy it like such. When you buy a new one, you should not misunderstand it as a used one. But one thing I dare to complain about the binding is its rubber holders which keep 4 CDs fastening tightly. | Of course there should have been much more. I remember there been a Metropolian Opera series called CAST ALBUMS- 100 YEARS that was put out for a limited time only and had like five volumes.
As Peter Filichia noted they left out SHE LOVES ME, BRIGADOON and SWEENEY TODD. Also nothing from PACIFIC OVERTURES, BIG RIVER, CHESS, CRAZY FOR YOU, JEKYLL & HYDE, TITANIC, THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL, FOOTLOOSE- THE MUSICAL, THE FULL MONTY, URINTOWN... | This contains a great collection of Elliot Smith songs including his best songs ever written: "Between the Bars" and "Miss Misery." If you didn't feel like owning XO (because you are really poor or you live under a wicked stepmother that only lets you own one cd) then this would be a great one to own. If you have even a meager salary however, be sure to get XO as well as Either/Or by Elliott Smith. |

| This was (almost) as good an album as "Call Me" and "Let's Stay Together". The hit singles "Love and Happinerss", "Oh, Pretty Woman" and the title track helped make this one of Al Green's strongest sellers and a highlight of early-'70s Soul. The only song on this CD which can be labeled a near-miss is "For The Good Times" as it just doesn't hold up in comparison to the album's other tracks. |
