| I was lucky enough to actually safari in Africa in the late 80's. With this CD I can close my eyes and remember the wonderful journey. Of course the movie provided visual benefits as well. |

| I received this CD as a gift when I was pregnant with my first child. She is now the oldest of three and is now eleven years old. I played this CD every week throughout my pregnancy. I found it very comforting during a period of my life that seemed like a roller coaster ride. | The sumptuous tone that characterises Joshua Bell's CD provides what promises to be a brilliant listening experience. But for me there is a very fine line between sensitivity and sentimentality and too often he slithers over into unlovely swoops and slurs. Lush lyricism or sloppy sentiment? | I have this Messiah in several mediums, most recently on MP3. This is the best interpretation of Handel's most famous work. Ely Ameling is superb! The tempos are perfect - brisk and lively, and the chorus is on pitch, not dragging, and, thank goodness, not shouting and screaming, but singing beautifully. If you can afford only one recording of the Messiah, this is the recording to purchase. |
