| I give this magazine to my son-in-law every year for his birthday. He reads EVERY page and passes along some great info to me now and then. Seems it's very readable and full of good advice. |

| This seems to be an interesting magazine for young professionals. Gives good insight on different industries, possible ventures which could be successful and general information which is good to know if you want to start something.

| I am a fan of the magazine and think it's one of the best news/current affairs publications out there.
However... my wife and I received a subscription as a wedding gift. It took a more than 4 months to finally get activated. In that time, no one at the economist would help me ('talk to Amazon'), and no one at Amazon would help me - first, I had to get the friend who bought it for us to talk to them, which was a hassle. | this magazine is usually well received among progressive activists although many of us had a major problem with some coverage in the past. i won't get to it at this time but i must say that the last one i've read (?May/June edition) had a very good coverage in the issue of the prison industrial complex, putting human faces behind all the build up of prisons, the absurd increase in the prison population in the U.S. by far leading in the incarceration of our people, young and old alike, the racist system we still live in, etc. ... | I agree that it's not as good as it used to be, but it's still the best. It seems that there has been an across-the-board change toward the 30-second sound bites. You only see some of that in Forbes, but it's annoying. If I want that, I can go online to any of the major news networks.
Forbes still has the best financial and business analysis for the U.S. The Economist might edge it out on international issues, but that's not an apples-to-apples comparison. It beats Business Week and the other domestic rags. The ... Read More: |

| I ordered Kiplinger's and Money magazine for my mom who is nearing retirement age. She's relatively inexperience when it comes to personal finance and retirement planning. She does use an investment adviser, but hasn't seen much growth in her accounts, and is confused by much of what the adviser tells her. My recommendations to her were, first, find a new adviser, and second, to do some reading to educate herself with the basics. | I ordered the subscription at $29.98 for the year, then happened to be at a bookstore the next day and saw that the insert in the magazine had the cost at only $19.98!!! Amazon was 50% more expensive, so I immediately cancelled the subscription order from Amazon. Needless to say, I was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED to see that Amazon was gouging me by 50% |
