| Bought this on sale, and glad I didn't pay full price. I used a few times and the metal cable burned nearly through (so now it's hanging by a few threads). After a few uses it stopped beeping, so now I need to run over every few minutes to check if food has reached proper temp. Also, it's not that easy to set the temp buttons. I'll stick with my digital instant-read one. |

| I bought this for my 5-yr old daughter to help with her homework that she needs to finish within a certain time. Now we also use it to help with the last 15 min of getting ready to get out of home, and using this timer is a lot better than me constantly reminding her to "hurry up, or you'll be late!". In fact it helps the grown-ups in the family too. Instead of just promising ourselves that we will do 5 more minutes of email before we get up and get ready, we just set the timer. Great price too! |

| It is beyond me how a group of electronic designers built a battery powered device without an ON/OFF switch. I haven't left this on overnight to see if there's a nifty self-timed power-down, but somehow I doubt it.
I bought the item because it looked like the one Alton Brown uses, and I've had good luck following that trend. It also had a wide temperature range (32F - 392F) which was hard to find at the retail stores I visited. I was interested in using this as a fry thermometer also. I ... Read More: |

| At the bakery where I used to work, the bakers had a whole bouquet of these things hanging from a peg. They're great.
The start/stop button ought to be bigger than the clear button, and when you stick it to the fridge, the timer pivots downwards because the weight isn't balanced. Still, it's less irritating than any other timer I've used by at least an order of magnitude. |

| The thermometer works great as far as the temperature reading goes, but the clip that holds it to the pot is flimsy and once I started stirring my peanut brittle it gave out. Luckily I can usually tell when it is done, but I will be looking for a more reliable replacement. |

| I have never had a digital thermometer. I was very pleased with the accuracy and speed that the readout gave. My wife overcooks everything. Thankfully, she can now see the temperture of the food and serve it just right. |

| Instead, I received the Polder double timer, which is number 89'3'. Not this model which comes on a rope, model number 89'5'. The 893 label was put on the 895 model in the Amazon warehouse, and they must send out by scans, not by checking the products.
I had to speak to several Amazon customer service representatives to straighten this out. IT STILL HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. I had to create a new order to have the black one shipped to me to replace Amazon's mistake. Amazon would not just send the black color if the same ... Read More: |
