It is not plain old plastic - in fact it is more durable than its glass counterpart and costs more to manufacture. It may feel like ordinary plastic but it is not. It is heat resistant and will take 212 degree boiling water without damage or cracking, and is extremely difficult to scratch. | I bought this blender because of the copper. My kitchen is done with copper faucets, etc and it seems these days that everyone has a stainless steel obsession so it's so hard to find stuff that matches my kitchen. This looks so nice I keep it out on the counter rather than in the appliance cubby. It's no louder than my 13yr old Cuisanart was, and it works a LOT better. It chops up anything I throw in it incredibly quickly. This was worth every penny. |

| I have owned three of these. They look good, have a small footprint, and work OK. The problem is that none of the three I have owned have lasted longer than 12-18 months before they break. If you buy one, be prepared to throw it in the garbage or preferably recycle in about 12 months. I won't buy another one.
