I bought one for use on the water as well, and like the fact that it can take 40 user programmable channels. Note that programming requires a cable and software from Vertex/Standard Horizon. | The depth reading on this fish finder bounced all over the place. It would jump from 3' to 15' constantly in 10' of water. I would have thought it a fluke but I later learned that two other people I work with had the same problem. Then I learned from a few fishing forums that several other people had this problem. I'm not sure if it's specific to the M#525 or the entire 500 series but no one is complaining about the other Humminbird models. I sent this back and bought a Lowrance X96, problem solved. |

| I've now had this little guy for a year and with the exception of the green transducer dying in the first week (replaced immediately by Humminbird), it works like a charm. It's been in both frest and salt water repeatedly without a hiccup. I've had it in as much as 60 feet with fairly good resolution, discerning between weeds, rocks and fish
well for the price. Great little unit for the money, for sure-especially if you have a kayak like me. You won't be disappointed. |

I even got anxious enough to email Humminbird to find out when it would be released, and i was pretty upset when they told me they had no plans to produce an ice fishing transducer. Needless to say, when i saw it available on Amazon, I bought one immediately. I've used it a few times, and it works great! Much better alignment than i got with my old puck style transducer on a pvc bracket. Just drop it down the hole and you're good to go. Might need ... Read More: |
