| This GPS is excellent. But you need to keep in mind that it is an older Garmin model and thus many of the units are shipped with old map databases and older unit firmware. Garmin has a policy for all of their GPS units for free map upgrades and firmware updates IF you register within 60 days of purchase. Many of the reviews where people complain about poor routing or locations not being found are due to their not updating their unit. | I'm a professional photographer that travels alot and I bought the 760 last weekend and I have been using it for about a week. I love this product and I haven't had any problems. It only takes me about 30 seconds to plug in an address and I'm on my way. The blue tooth feature works great and the I don't have any sound issues like the others have complained of. | This product might be great in the continental US, but its support for Puerto Rico is poor at best.
I just moved to Puerto Rico and wanted to get out and about with little hassle. I bought one of these at a Best Buy here. I figured, if they sell it here- it sure must work well here, right? WRONG!! | My family and I recently went to London/Europe. The unit took awhile to find the satellite signal but once it did it worked great. With the way the roads are set up overseas, using this gps is the way to navigate. I would highly recommend this purchase. Now my daughter uses it here in the states. |

| I love having a GPS. The Magellan is a very good one, but whether it is better than a Garmin or a Tom Tom I cannot say. Mine is so accurate that at night I can use it to find a poorly lit side road. I enjoy the field that gives altitude, speed and heading (yes, I have a private pilot's license). I thought that the voice recognition would be more useful than it is--it has a limited vocabulary, so that the only command that I found useful was "Home," in which case it would lead me on the roads home. | This unit does everything it's supposed to. My only tiny complaint is that at 90-100% volume, the back plastic shell vibrates a little, making the sound a little harsh. It is not the speaker distortion, but the speaker is actually so loud that it vibrates the plastic shell. 80% volume is perfect, even driving on freeway with radio on. Satellite aquistion is fast, voice (American Samantha-TTS) sounds clear, not tinny or compressed), screen is plenty bright, menus are intuitive, touch screen is perfect sensitivity, updating software and adding new vehicles ... When in town she knows exactly where to go and has no problems getting there, but if she needs to go to a new place...that's where the problems may begin. She is better than me because she can drive stick and I can't. Well, anyone can print out directions and follow them but I believe that having to shift, pedal control and keeping an eye on the road for idiots that don't know how to drive and having to add reading directions can be difficult while driving.
