| Much has already been said by other reviewers weighing the pros and cons of this GPS, however I'll point out a few of the ups and downs that I've noticed personally:
PROS: I haven't had much of a problem with the pronunciation of street and highway names yet. I've actually been very impressed. | I received my 765T a few days ago and love it so far. After reading some up and down reviews, I wasn't certain what to expect. I am pleasantly surprised.
To start, the unit's volume is plenty loud, even at highway speeds. The screen is readable at all times, and auto-changes to a dark night mode at night - easy on the eyes. you can force it to day or night mode if desired. The map movement is tremendous. | It's a very good product, I would buy it again.
The only thing that I don't like is that it takes a lot of time to acquire the satellites. But it's ok anyways. |

| This is the my third handheld gps unit and without a doubt it's the best I have used or seen on the market to date. I primarily use it for recording fishing spots and water-related waypoints. I also use it to download my many other personal POI files. I'm extremely pleased with the unit's overall performance and would highly recommend it to anyone. | I have had the Garmin for a few months now - it performs very well with the exception of one hole on my home course where the distances are off. Ease of use is excellent - turn it on and go. I am getting about 2 1/2 rounds out of the batteries - might be worth the investment to get a rechargeable unit. A friend had a Sky Caddie at another local course and the course was not mapped - we used my unit. All in all very happy with the purchase - has really helped my short iron game. |

| bought the oregon and the city navigator software and set out on a 4500 mile hunting/sightseeing trip. I did need some help from the garmin folks to get it set up, but after this small headache I found the 400 to be a superb on and off road navigator. It's everything I had hoped it would be. I threw my magellan away. If you buy the mounting device for your vehicle expect it to work but you will have trouble with the power cord. | I was sailing on the Canadian Westcoast (Vancouver - Gulf Islands, Sunshine coast) and bought a Garmin GPSMAP 76CSx plus the Bluechart for the area.
I was slightly aprehensive before the purchase about the screen size and level of detail on the maps, but after a little getting used to, I was really VERY impressed. Having been used to large paper charts (expensive) this is a great deal. | Being a boater/explorer I've seen,tried,owned,reviewed,researched & studied about every handheld gps unit there is. I bought the Garmin Etrex Mariner when it first came out.At that time I also found the Garmin MapSource Points of Interest (POI) CD on sale (~2001) for ~ $[...]. I paid $[...] for the Mariner and used it for several years just fine. The Mariner only has 1mb memory, so one is limited in how much detail can be installed, and there is no mapping.
