| Garmin has to be the best GPS available. It is the only one I buy, and this is my fifth unit. It is fast to aquire satellite data, and will position you within feet of where you are. I would like to have the option to increase the size of the font, but that is not available to the extent I need for motorcycle use. Rugged and reliable, if just a little over price; but then you are paying for the Garmin name. Software was easy to install on my GPS. |

| The product was used and still had some way points in it, which I deleted. It was in like new condition and worked perfectly. All literature and cables appeared to never have been used. I did email the vendor with a question about software for this product and received a prompt response. |

| Simple GPS, good value for money for casual, no bells or whistles. WAAS has issue in software needs to be updated to version 2.5 I think, so be sure to buy a serial cable to update. Buy the garmin compatible it works and you save $30. |

| I bought and used this plotter over the summer of 2008 in Maine. While better than nothing the screen is really too small to be useful. If you zoom out to get a range of a few miles, you lose chart detail. The screen keys on the cursor, and it can then be difficult to find the arrow indicating the boat position again. I would have returned it, but Amazon has only a 30 day return policy on unused items. So you buy it and try it, you own it. Unless you have a very small craft, buy a plotter with a larger screen. |

| I had to return the first 400C that I installed. It stopped working after 2 days. The replacement works fine, but I wonder about the long-term reliability.
The fish-finding performance of the unit appears to be very good. No complaints here. The documentation is very basic. It tells how to use the unit under various settings. However, it does not tell much, if anything, about how the user can interpret the sonar readings. Also, the unit is dual beam, but there is nothing in the documentation ... Read More: |

| I have used the [ASIN:B000ETTPCG Garmin 160C Portable Fishfinder (Dual Beam)]Garmin 160C several times now and find that it is quite easy to use and it works well not only locating fish but the constant depth reading has saved my boat being hung up in shallow water areas where I fish. The optional audible alarm that I added was a plus as well so you can hear the warning of fish and depth audibly as well as see on the screen both fish and water depth situations.

| Nice color display and functionality. Had a hard time with acquiring signal while in central/southern Alaska if not outdoors with fairly decent clear path to sky. Was better in the Skagway and Ketchikan area. Probably could expect this from most devices... In the lower 48, was very good indoors and in the car. Device is pretty decent to use. I hate an annoying popup on powerup that warns not to use for navigation ?! Maybe someone tried to sue them ? Maybe there is a way to turn off, but have not found it yet.

| I didn't expect much for the price I paid, but was pleasently surprised. The screen is very easy to read, and the automatic features actually work without being fine tuned. Far and away the nicest feature about this unit is the dual beam transducer. It has great accuracy not only under the boat, but off to the sides. Lastly the option of mounting the transducer to the trolling motor without having to buy an adapter was icing on the cake. |
