| The transfer of this film appears to be the same MPEG transfer as the one used for the DVD version. It DOES NOT appear to be a new 1080p 4k re-mastering of the film. This is not to say that it doesn't look much better in Blu-Ray than it does on DVD. But it is not, evidently, a brand new 1080p 4k transfer made expressly for Blu-Ray release. After my keen disappointment with the first season of the misanthropic "24" a while back, I promised myself I'd never waste my time on series television again without a helluva reco from a friend who knew my proclivities, and preferably after the series had had enough time to reveal its underlying themes. | Due to lack of advertising, I didn't see this movie til a few years after its release when a good friend of mine bought it for me and I'm very glad he did. This movie is up there with my top favorite movies. Buy this movie, you won't be disappointed...and if you are, I doubt it'll take you long to find a new owner for your Boondock Saints. |

| This film breaks at least a couple of "rules" that apply to the novel or a movie. First, there is not a single character in it that the viewer can like. They are all human dregs, with no use whatever to society. Second, the plot is not continuous, and the viewer has to reassemble the pieces. These faults should destroy the movie--but somehow they don't.
In fact, this is one of the best movies I've ever seen. It is amazing that the director/writer could break such cardinal rules and produce a masterpiece. Is ... Read More: |

| The Coens return to "Fargo" territory with a blood-soaked tale of local yokels coming up against big city criminals, however, this time the result is completely reversed. Javier Bardem is creepy as a "grim reaper" type and Josh Brolin is excellent as an opportunist who gets in way over his head. Tommy Lee Jones and Woody Harrelson have small but telling parts as an old cop and "fixer", respectively. | As always, there is a limit to how bad anything Morgan Freeman appears in can be. He did a great job for his part, but there were some things that were a bit unexplained in the movie. Weak points:
1. What caused the schism between the two bosses? How did the timing work out so perfectly that the first boss knew that the second killed his son? 2. | Rebecca (1940) is the only film directed by Alfred Hitchcock that won an Oscar as best picture and it is also his first american film. It certainly has many of Hitch's trademarks (the opening sequence for example)but imho it is an overrated film, the performances are dull with the exceptcion of Judith Anderson`s role and the script is weak. Suspicion , Notorius , Strangers on a Train are by far better films in which the Master of Suspense displays all his genius. Sincerely I expected a more interesting film. |
