I recently purchased the Victor Borge Classic Collection about a week ago. Just the other night we were having some families over, so I decided to put on The Best of Borge. I do not remember seeing so much laughter and smiles in one room before. I was most suprised that even the teenagers who had never heard of him before were sitting down to watch. Victor Borge is a one of a kind performer that only comes along once in a lifetime. I have seen him live and on TV, and even though I know what he is ... Read More:

I almost cannot imagine a better-cast "Annie" than this one, unless they could somehow get a time machine and bring young Andrea McArdle herself forward to reclaim the title role. Kathy Bates! Alan Cumming! Audra McDonald! Victor Garber as Daddy Warbucks -- maybe the best of all. The musical is regrettably simplified and shortened for its TV running time, but remains extremely enjoyable and, despite budget and set limitations, far livelier than the overwrought 1982 film. The songs are beautifully ... Read More:

If you love Jimmy Stewart, this is the movie for you. Jimmy Stewart portrayed Glenn Miller with style and grace. Love it!

The scenes with the service men is very special to my family as my father was in this film and can be clearly seen. When this movie was on TV when I was growing up, we always watched it no matter the time of day. Now we can watch it over and over and pause it to get a better look.

This movie is completely ridiculous to anyone who knows anything about music. It is, for all intents and purposes, one of the most terrible movies ever made, but there is an enjoyable "awesomely bad" element for people who actually know about classical singing. Seeing "Caro Mio Ben" portrayed as this impossibly difficult song, even though it is the first and easiest classical piece, any singer learns, is quite funny. My personal favorite scene is when she sings "Caro Mio Ben' for her "scary" slavic music teacher ... Read More:

"Calamity Jane" is a wonderful film, made three years after the similarly plotted "Annie Get Your Gun." "Calamity Jane," however, is by far the superior film. Doris Day is perfect in the role of the tomboyish title character. She handles a physically demanding role with great charm and serves up a collection of great songs, including "The Deadwood Stage," "The Black Hills of Dakota," "Just Got in From the Windy City," and the Academy Award-winning Best Song, "Secret Love." Co-star Howard Keel is good, but it's Day's ... Read More:

Time stands still while watching Andy sing more than 25 classic holiday songs in his well renown, easy going style. The performance is complete with the Osmond Brothers joining Andy in a segment of the show. Enjoyable entertainment!

GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES is a wonderful and entertaining comedy that does not miss a bit in pure enjoyment.Howard Hawk's direction glistens with spirit and finesse. Each song is jubilant and well staged. There are numerous reviews before mine that outline the plot, but it simply is about a golddigger with a heart of gold trying to look out for her own best interest who simultaneously is being pursued by a dorky and wealthy young heir to a fortune for marriage, and a lascivious elderly gentleman owner smitten with the young beauty(Monroe) ... If you have no appreciation for Beethoven or his music watching this film will undoubtedly change that. Directed with real verve and finely acted by the likes of Gary Oldman, I loved watching this film. I own this movie and drag it out every once in a while. Great recordings of his music by the current masters infuse some scenes with intense emotion: the emotions Beethoven himself must have felt. This is one of the finest period films I have seen, and can only recommend it highly.
