| I remember seeing some previews for this film, and thinking that it looked interesting. I'm a big Clive Owen fan, and aside from what I saw in the trailer, I didn't really know much about it. Had never read the book, hadn't seen any promo for it aside from the aforementioned trailer.

| Apart from Viggo Mortensen, this movie is a waste of time. If they had acted it just a bit more over the top, it would have been a fine dark comedy. As it is, it's just dull and unrealistic. The violence is graphic and lurid, but doesn't add much to theme or plot. I felt it was gratuitous. If you want to see a much better movie about Russian mob life, try either "Brat" (Brother), "Brat II", or "Friend of the Deceased" (Ukrainian film). | Statham is always great, but this movie was slow and boring. The only good part is that its a true story. And the English accents drove me crazy.

| As always, there is a limit to how bad anything Morgan Freeman appears in can be. He did a great job for his part, but there were some things that were a bit unexplained in the movie. Weak points:
1. What caused the schism between the two bosses? How did the timing work out so perfectly that the first boss knew that the second killed his son? 2. | This is a light Hitchcock movie, probably not one of his greatest, but pretty close! The film does not focus on murder or mayhem or even tragedy. It is all about stealing jewels! If you thought that jewel thieves were interesting, this is your movie. If not, here the movie grows on you and you won't care about it being about jewel thieves. The acting is superlative and funny. | This is truly an amazing collection containing 14 of the Master's films, most of them from his later so-called "Golden Period." Unless you're a Hitchcock completionist, it's likely that you would be more than satisfied with this box set, perhaps supplemented by Strangers on a Train and North by Northwest, which are owned by Warner Bros. and thus not included in this Universal collection.

| The main character is a tool and I don't like him and I don't like his terrible life but that's not why I didn't care too much for this film (of course). It's entirely possible to do a movie about an unlikable and even bland character that makes him interesting and sympathetic. In this character study the creation of an even mildly compelling character whose life we take any real interest in was simply not accomplished.
