| This was actually better than I'd expected. I'm not a NASCAR fan, but Will Farrell does on occasion make me laugh.
And laugh I did. Ricky Bobby (Will Farrell) is a born race car driver who becomes a champion, until an accident leaves him psychologically unable to race again. John C. Reilly plays his sidekick, always coming in second, helping Ricky Bobby win. | I saw this when it came out, watched it once--but not all the way through and then got rid of it. It was SO very tacky. It was very, very low budget. Poor acting. Ignorant.
These guys need to stay behind the scenes and do South Park. Their over-the-edge humor and voices are more histerical than their acting. Stay away from this film. (gag) And watch South Park instead. |

| I admit that I am a baseball junkie and did not know as much about this part of the great american pastime as I should have and before I saw the movie I did not know the historical perspective of the subject matter. But that changed.
This is just an out and out great movie with a wonderful cast, Tom Hanks and Geena Davis turn in wonderful performances. I am not a big fan of either Madonna or Rosie O'Donnell, but because of their efforts in this movie I do take a double look whenever I ssee their names because ... Read More: |

| I love Will Ferrell, but apparently can only take him in small doses. His SNL skits were hilarious, but a full length movie with him as one of the main characters? Way too much. Semi-Pro has its moments. Some of the dialogue is hysterical, but to hear similar types of backyard humor over and over gets old. This is worth watching on cable only. |

| Mystery Alaska is a bit of a strange movie. Even though it's about a small hockey team in a small fictional town of Alaska (called Mystery) that badly wants the opportunity to play the New York Rangers, for some reason, there's lots of comedy bits that involve punching people in the face, and sexual themes with SEVERE cuss words that make the movie entirely inappropriate for children. So this is NOT recommended for fans of the Mighty Ducks.
