| Always loved this movie since I was a kid (before VCR's)and would watch on Dad's old 16 mm projector..Funny that someone else wrote they felt this role was "made for Danny Kaye"....In fact the movie was based on a book- "The Maladjusted Jester" that was written by Sylvia Fine- who was- guess who? Danny Kaye's wife! |

| The first time I saw this one, I thought Witherspoon's character was a little too unlikable for the lead in a romantic comedy, however, after watching the movie more than once I don't feel as much that way. This is a nice movie that still has a few surprises even though you kind of get the feeling you know where things are going. | Very enjoyable movie. Was reluctant at first to take the time to watch, but very happy I did. No vulgar language, no nudity (well, almost!), no violence, no car chases, and no anti-American theme. Just a movie with lovable characters, beautiful backdrop scenery, easy on the ear Irish/English conversational language, lots of laughs, and a surprise ending. What's not to like? | I loved the French film La Cage Aux Folles when it was made and The Birdcage is a wonderful remake. Both films are worth owning.
Whenever I need a laugh, I watch The Birdcage because every performance is spot on. It makes you laugh until you cry and it makes you cry because the love of the two men for their "son" is so poignant. Both versions of the story are highly entertaining. |

| "Some Like It Hot" is ranked number one on the American Film Institute's Top 100 Laughs; making the film basically the funniest movie of all-time. Yet, I couldn't refrain from asking myself if this movie really deserves the number one spot, or even "Tootsie" at number two; perhaps there IS something about transvestitism that appeals to the general public, mind you, if they're done skillfully.
