| The World at War (30th Anniversary Edition)
I have purchased many DVDs about WW2 and this one sits near or at the top of the list. The 50 minute episodes make it easy to keep track of the many events during WW2. The episodes are interesting and informative. The series has excellent footage and the narration by Sir Laurence Olivier is top notch. The recent price reduction really makes it an exceptional value. I think it is a "must" purchase for any WW2 or history buff. |

| Any serious student of American history will find Burns' account of the Civil War fascinating and enlightening. It provides a wealth of information that to me seems definitive and encompassing.

| By now, a few of the other reviewers have shared the often held opinion that the story of USS Enterprise CV6 for a modern audience was long overdue. Unless you're a Naval history buff, chances are the story of "The Big E" is probably new to you, considering the replayed emphasis of other WWII stories that are so popular these days (retellings of D-Day, etc). | Well as a former US Army Tanker, I am writing this from that view. I had the privilege of serving with good soldiers, who on one occassion watched this movie together, as a company. The critisicm never ended.
I do like the actors in this movie, but the background, tactics and overall unit organizations shown in this picture, were pitiful. | "The General" and "The Twilight Zone" are, in my opinion, the two most brilliantly conceived films ever made. "The General" keeps you glued to the screen, with sight gag after sight gag. Keaton was a genius and this was never more evident than this movie. Kino did a super job of offering three different music scores, each giving new life to the film. | season 2 of the popular Dogfights series as seen on the History Channel (and Military History Channel)... awesome series for anyone interested in aerial combat from WWI, WWI, Korean & Vietnam conflicts, and a few air battles from more recent times in the middle east. the series combines excellent CGI graphics with interviews of experts/historians and the real pilots who were there to explain the situations and the tactics they used.

| I note that there are a lot of lukewarm reviews of this set, and even a fair number of negative comments relating to its shortcomings. For me, though, as a beginner in World War II history, something I knew very little about, I found this set quite enjoyable and informative. McNamara murders hundreds of thousands during his career, and then finds a way to forgive himself anyway. A must see, that is well shot and scored, unique, and worth watching multiple times. |

| Over the years, I've been exposed to untold numbers of good, bad and indifferent documentaries. CARRIER is the best -- EVER.
Working on a ship which offered, at best, difficult working situations, the camera crews, editors, etc., were able to tell several stories about the young men and women of the Nimitz. In fact, a follow-up documentary, a "where are they now" 2 hour program would be well received. Kudos to the director and to whomever conceived this idea. |
