| I just bought this video. And I really enjoyed it. I did expect to see the girls in those red outfits with the white nylons; but what can you do. Solomon in Ecclesiastes used to like those pretty dancing girls too. It is not pornographic but is very sexy in parts. and since I am such a lonely boy, this pleased me. | I am a dancer and ballet is my favorite type of dance. I have seen dozens of different Nutcrackers over the years, from the traditional to the avand garde. Nothing can compare with this version. Baryshnikov shines. And Kirkland is a most sensuous Clara/Marie. Their duet at the end replaced the traditional "sugarplum fairy" dance. But, what a duet! I never get tired of watching it. A true Christmas treasure. |

| I trained as a dancer (tap, jazz, ballet demi and Pointe) from age 3 to 19 years old. I am 32 and out of shape, very overweight. This DVD is wonderful. I cried the first time because it was memory lane for me. Elise takes you through the basics of ballet. Don't think this is she she foofoo workout. This is hard core kick your butt workout. | I took ballet for a couple of years as a child but now as an adult am struggling to find more active activities than sewing. I don't like aerobics or running because of the high impact nature of the sports, and I have trouble breathing while doing those. I was pleasingly surprised by this dvd (I've only done the first one so far), at how much of a workout is possible with simple, low impact movements. | I found this DVD to be a fascinating viewing experience. George Balanchine was born in St. Petersburg in 1904. His parents were Georgian and his father was a well known composer and his mother was devoted to the arts. At nine he enrolled at the Imperial Ballet, which was disbanded after the Soviets took over.
