| I am at work and wish I could get into great detail about every reason I love this dvd, but I do not have hours to dedicate to that :)
I owned this before it came out in Blu-ray and watched it often, however, it is like watching it from a totally different light. My absolute favorite song performed is Go.Go.Go. from Down the Line. Roy Orbison is such a musical hero and the crew he performs with is untouchable! The blu-ray is the way to go, for sure. |

| I am a dancer and ballet is my favorite type of dance. I have seen dozens of different Nutcrackers over the years, from the traditional to the avand garde. Nothing can compare with this version. Baryshnikov shines. And Kirkland is a most sensuous Clara/Marie. Their duet at the end replaced the traditional "sugarplum fairy" dance. But, what a duet! I never get tired of watching it. A true Christmas treasure. |

concert selections on the DVD. Why?-- misleading. One of the missing is the terrific duet w/ Heather Headley-- Vivo per Lei which I would like to include in my music library but can't find anywhere |

| My grandson is 2 and loves to listen to this DVD when he goes to sleep. Well, most of the time. It is very soothing and great music!!!! When I received the DVD the case was completely cracked into. I probably should have returned it but I really wanted it to help put him to sleep and the DVD played fine. |

| Sometimes being "original" isn't necessarily better. Now don't get me wrong... I love this opera and grew up watching it on tv as did many reviewers.. But I'm not wasting my money on a black and white early tv video. What I am hoping for is a DVD of the wonderful video filmed on location in Israel with Theresa Stratas as the mother. I saw this the first time on PBS circa 1979, and was able to find a video tape produced by VAI. However it is time for a release of that performance on DVD. If I want to hear the original ... | We've always like Barry Manilow's voice and songwriting ability. What was a surprise is how good a showman he is. Totally delightful show, and one we will watch again and again.
Nice to have Mr. Manilow living in our home town. |

| This production is 95% very, very close-up full face shots. There are no, zero, full stage shots. Very Occasionally there is a full body shot. There is absolutely no sense of theater at all.
This opera could have been filmed in an 8 x 12 foot room. No sense of space exists. DAS BOOT had more wide shots. Even the dance sequences, by famed choreographer Lucinda Childs, are shown in half body, never in full ensamble. There were close-ups that showed only an EYE, full screen.
